Surkhanda Devi Temple is situated in Tehri Garhwal district of Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand. The deity of this temple is Surkhanda Devi. As we know, Uttarakhand is second Indian state by height. The first state by height is Sikkim. The temple is about 9045ft above sea level. The temple is surrounded with dense forest and mountains. Local people have a great faith in this temple.
The real name of this temple is Sirkhanda Devi Temple. According to the legends, the head part of Maa Sati fell at the spot. That is why the temple named as Sirkhanda(The Head part). But by the passage of time, it got popularity with the name Surkhanda. The place can be reached easily from Dehradun.
