Dev Bhoomi, Meaning of Dev Bhoomi and Parts of Dev Bhoomi



The meaning of Dev Bhoomi is "the land of God". This title is given to many places in India. Dev Bhoomi is called mostly, the Himalyan region of India.

According to the Rishi-Muni's, their are 5 parts or khand of Dev Bhoomi. and these five parts are :-
1.Kashmir
2.Kangra
3.Kedar
4.Kurma
5.Kailash


In modern days, these places are J&k, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan.
The Kashmir Khand comes in Jammu and Kashmir state, Kangra Khand comes in Himachal Pradesh, Kedar and Kurma Khand comes under Uttarakhand and Kailash khand comes under Nepal and Sikkim.

Uttarakhand is more famous with this name than any other Indian state because there are two parts of Dev bhoomi(Kedar and Kurma) lies in Uttarakhand. And People go to Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand for ritual practice more than any other state.

The Two largest and holiest rivers Ganga and Yamuna comes from Uttarakhand.
