Why Uttarakhand Is Called "Dev Bhoomi"

The meaning of "Dev Bhoomi" in English is "The Lnd of God". The title of  Dev Bhoomi is given to Uttarakhand by Rishi and  Muni’s. Uttarakhand is very famous with the name Dev Bhoomi. There are many reasons behind this. Uttarakhand is famous with the name Dev Bhoomi from ancient times. Rishi and Muni’s called this place Dev Bhoomi. There are many reasons why Uttarakhand is called Dev Bhoomi.
Some of the reasons are given below :-

    1. According to legends. There are 5 Khand or parts of Dev Bhoomi. These parts are Kashyapa(Kashmir), Kangra, Kedar, Kurma, Kailash.  Two parts of Dev Bhoomi came under Uttarakhand . These parts are Kedar and Kurma. Kedar Khand or part is ruled by Garhwal Kingdom and Kurma Khand or part is also called Kumaon or Manaskhand and ruled by Kumaon Kingdom.

    2. Uttarakhand is called Dev Bhoomi because Uttarakhand is the place where people meditate on God and become the part of God. Uttarakhand is the place where people can do meditation without any distraction and disturbance.

L  3. Legends say that many Devi’s and Devta’s live in these region.

    4. Because of Many Religious places like Haridwar, Chhota Char Dham, Char Dham, and many other temples and religious places. The worship places of Lord Shiva and Vishnu are here.  Panch Badri, Panch Kedar, Panch Prayag pilgrimages are in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand have many tirth sthala.

    5. If you will go to a place where someone meditated or worshiped, you will also get benefited by his act. Because many rishi muni’s stayed here and they meditated and worshiped here. People came here and get benefited. The travel of People not only from India but from all over the world is called Yatra in Sanskrit language. People come to Uttarakhand for Yatra.

  1. As per my knowledge only Garhwal region is Dev Bhumi. All the Char Dhams and various Kedars are in Garhwal. Kumaon has only one important place religious Jageshwar. But Kumaon is not Dev Bhumi. With the creation of Uttaranchal subsequently named Uttarakhand the entire area including the plains of Uttarakhand is called. Places like Kichha, Sitarganj etc. are also called Dev Bhumi. So please enlighten me whether I am right !
Uttarakhand was conceived as a Hill State, but BJP included Haridwar in Uttarakhand. I suggested to the Leaders of all Parties that Udhamsingh Nagar, Haridwar and even the entire area of plains to be excluded so that it becomes a Hill State. Today the Hills have 30 MLAs whereas plains has 40 MLAs. The concept of Hill State has vanished away. The people are migrating to Haldwani, Udhamsingh Nagar and Dehradun etc. So where is the Hill State ?

    1. Plan or Pahadwad thk nahi he uttarakhand ke lie. Purane time me jab Garhwal or Kumaon Kingdom the to Garhwal Kumaon ke rajaon ne pahad or plan dono pe raj kia he. Haridwar pe bhi Garhwal ke Pundir raja raj karte the. Udham Singh Nagar me Kashipur Kumaon ke ek Commander Kashichand ke name se he. Rudrapur Rudra Chand ke name se. Pahad or plan wad thk nai Uttarakhand ke lie. isse achchha he ham ye jo thoda sa plan area he ispe ham Kumaon or Garhwal ke culture or language ko strong kare.
