Baijnath Mahadev, Bageshwar, Kumaon, Uttarakhand


There are many temples in India with the name "Baijnath  Mahadev". Baijnath Mahadev of Kumaon, Uttarakhand is one of them. Today, we are going to tell you about the Baijnath Mahadev of Uttarakhand.
Baijnath is a town in Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. This town is on the bank of Gomti river. Gomti is the tributary of Holy river Ganga. Baijnath comes in the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand. In old times Kumaon division was Kumaon Kingdom.

Baijnath was the capital of Katyuri kings of Kumaon. The Baijnath temple was built by these Katyuri kings. Baijnath Mahadev is the temple of Lord Shiva. As we know the Shiva is also known with the name Mahadev.
There are a group of temples in Baijnath as you can see in above photo. There is an artificial lake near to the temple. Many visitors come to this temple every year.
